DESCRIPTION:
The Global Youth Climate Training Program is capacity-building initiative designed for young people aged 16-35.
Launched in May 2023 it aims to equip participants with knowledge and confidence necessary to engage in international climate policy.
The program focuses on landscape of sub-state and non-state actor accountability. This is vital for effective climate policy.
This year’s sessions run from 3 September to 1 October 2024.
The program will provide participants with critical skills.
The participants will learn to assess legitimacy of non-state actor commitments. Participants will also understand their role in complementing state-level climate commitments.
Final reunion session will be held on 1 November 2024.
This program builds on previous initiatives. It focuses on empowering youth to critically engage with climate policy.
Participants will learn to detect green-washing. They will understand credible net zero targets.
The GYCT aims to foster community of informed and passionate climate advocates, ready to make significant impact.
ELIGIBILITY:
- Applicants must be aged 16-35 and demonstrate experience in leadership climate advocacy, or activism A solid understanding of UNFCCC process and key outcomes.
- Candidates should have proven ability to advocate for change and strong passion for climate action and diplomacy Preference is given to applicants from diverse regions most impacted by climate change.
SCHOLARSHIP/AWARDS:
The program funded by ClimateWorks Foundation, covers all participation costs. This ensures accessibility for all selected participants
