Living conditions and remarks
Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country with great human capital and beautiful natural resources (mountains, rivers, etc), located where Eastern and Western Europe meet. The country has a complex history and therefore a very rich heritage. The country has a free, public healthcare system. In addition, there are some private medical facilities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, mainly located in Sarajevo and other large cities. Prescription medicines are readily available in pharmacies. Bosnia-Herzegovina also has an established public transportation network. However, whilst public transportation will be readily available in Sarajevo and other large urban areas, it may be with limited scope in small and rural areas. Capital Sarajevo has a good quality of life, and is cost-effective compared to many European capitals. There is an active night life and many cafes, bars, restaurants, etc. The UN designated state of alert for Bosnia and Herzegovina (including Sarajevo, as BiH has single security area) is Security Level Low, and the Travel Advisory level Low 2.
BiH is a unique country and it provides for an interesting and enriching environment, but also requires a mature level of cultural awareness, as well as more stamina and commitment than elsewhere to make life comfortable and affordable.
