Outside Media & Knowledge (Others)
Outside Media & Knowledge UG (Outside) is a German inclusion specialist focusing on hard-to-reach groups, especially NEETS, youth and women, those of migrant and multicultural background, and diversity in its many forms. At Outside we advocate, educate and champion realising the potential of vulnerable groups through the use of communications and participatory engagement We do this through the innovative and positive use of open access media channels, online communication tools and digital technology. These tools allow for meaningful interaction and dialogue with our beneficiaries. We also act as educators, empowering hard-to-reach groups and youth to have their voices heard and to access learning that will change their circumstances.
Outside started as a volunteer initiative in 2018, when the Outside Multicultural Magazine was founded (www.outsidemagazine.ie). The online magazine reached multicultural groups, fighting the negative narrative about migrants and new community members in general. It used storytelling and showcasing through video, interviews and case studies, to spread the messages of women, youth and other marginalised groups, longing for equality, inclusion and belonging. OUTSIDE also used positive narratives to show success stories of female entrepreneurs and female-led initiatives. We also used music and videography to engage youth into multicultural collaborations, through art.
Since 2018 Outside Media & Knowledge has worked in delivering forward-looking digital education activities to youth across the EU. These educational activities are aimed at hard-to-reach groups, diverse in every way, by using the power of digital technology. We have created digital content, resources and communities specifically targeting diverse, hard to reach groups with the content showing and discussing the beauty of European stories, cultures, and diversity.
